Tattle Teddy Reflection Template Sheets Behavior Management Resource

We all know that sometimes our students just feel like they need to tell you everything. Sometimes it is not about who they say it to, but rather, that they say it and they know someone is listening. Many teachers have a Teddy Bear somewhere in the back of their classroom that they allow students to tattle to so they are heard but it doesn't interrupt the teachers flow. This form is a great way to take that conversation to the next level. Allowing students to write about their feelings, what happened, and how they are going to solve it, promotes leadership, independence, problem-solving skills as well as communication skills. This is a great way to take your class to the next level while maintaining your focus on instruction!

Louisiana Cultures Group Project

Transfer the learning and ownership over curriculum to your students, with this highly engaging and exciting group project. Emebedded in the student expectations page is a timeline for production, directions, assigned group, and a clear rubric including components of quality, accuracy, presentation, collaboration, and organization. In this self-directed research group project, students will use the resources availabel to them in your classroom such as magazines, articles, textbooks, computers, etc. to develop a presentation in a format of their choosing such as a powerpoint, brochure, rap, play, poster, etc. The topics included are Cajuns, Creoles, Aative Americans, and the French. The expectation is that they cover food, music, norms, way of life, etc. Three exemplars are included for distribution to students if necessary of a different community so students can relate. This ties nicely to my Louisiana Cultures Exit Ticket Assessment as well as my Louisiana Cultures Guided Notes.

How To Write a Check Guided Notes

Check out this awesome tutorial on how to write a check. Scaffolded within the pages, there is an instructional portion that highlights and explains each section, followed by whole-class practice questions and then independent practice. Students can refer back to this as a reference when writing checks for years to come and should leave without a simple and accurate understand of what is on the check, what it means, and how to complete it. Such an important skill and so easy to teach. Have fun!

Reflective Writing Lesson (Inspired by Dr Seuss's Oh The Places You'll Go)

What a better way to inspire your kiddos than applying concepts from Dr. Seuss' book "Oh The Places You'll Go". You will need the book to complete this lesson, but there are multiple digital and read aloud version online (Youtube offers some good options). Included in this packet is a clear step by step lesson for teachers as well as a planning sheet and differentiated formats for final copies that students can use. Aligned to the ideas in the Leader In Me Program, students can begin with the end in mind and reflect on where they want to go, and what they have to do to get there, while tying in concepts from the book!

Shark Tank Inspired Invention and Advertisement Creation Challenge Project

Check out this incredible project that is inspired by Shark Tank. Included in this large packet, you will find directions for the teacher, directions for the students, challenge sheet with an explanation hook, templates for each stage of the invention and advertisement process and a clear rubric to convey expectation. Presented in a fun and student-friendly format, students will create an invention, whether real or not, will discuss the need for the invention and then create an advertisement to hook buyers. It is intended to take five days, with clear expectations for each day, as each lesson scaffolds on the next. Students will love applying their learned concepts of supply and demand, needs and wants, and helping people make their lives easier through their inventions. One of our favorites :)

Aligned with Leader In Me's idea go beginning with the end in mind, this interactive and student-centered research projects, pushes students to think through some of the details of their next steps. Pushing students being just saying they want to be an NFL player or a police officer, this week long project pushes students through a variety of areas of research focusing on what they want to be when the grow up, where they want to go to college, the various expenses affiliated with living on your own in college, the expenses of living in a certain area, and then the necessary grades and other components that colleges look for. Using websites like glassdoor.com and various college websites will massively support students with this project. Hopefully their findings ground them in what their next steps look like and push them to apply math skills, research skills, reading skills, and ultimately help plan for their future!
